The small Arusha National Park near Arusha is teeming with a wide variety of wildlife. Upon driving into the park a wide prairie reveals some of the treasures inside. In one scene, Masai Giraffes, Zebras, Warthogs, and Baboons coexist peacefully.
The Baboons calmly walk across the road knowing that the tourist jeeps will wait for their safe crossing.
Late February, early March is baby season and yearling Zebras and month-old Wildebeests dot the landscape.
In this park three varieties of monkeys can be seen; baboons, Skye/Blue faced monkeys and the elusive black-and-white colombus.
There is so much that the park offers including a huge variety of bird species, and hooved creatures like the Waterbuck.
Perhaps one of the best features of this park is being able to have a walking safari. Giraffes towering high overhead while being just a breath away from them is one of the most peaceful and connected moments to nature one can have.
This is just a sampling of all that can be seen in the park. Elephants and a rare sighting of a leopard or cheetah could occur. A truly wonderful park that should be included in anyone’s safari route in Tanzania.
