For those that have been following me, you know I’ve been driving all over the state of Maryland this winter in search of ducks. The earlier unseasonably warm winter season held back the duck migration and the waters have been empty of ducks.
At long last, on Thursday a huge flock of ducks were seen flying in onto the Choptank River in Cambridge. Canvasbacks, Scaups, and Redheaded ducks it’s all so exciting!
Several photographers stopped by Oakley Street to spend time at the Wall of Shame. Looking for that perfect duck shot in rather difficult conditions. With 20 mph winds and three foot wave swells, the ducks were surfing the waters.
It didn’t take long for me to get low on the ground and shoot through a hole in the bulkhead wall. Certainly not an easy task. But well worth the effort. I just wish I had more time to spend with them.
