Sometimes in the least likely of places can be found large colonies of shore birds. Such is Nickerson Beach on Long Island, New York. Known for its nesting shorebirds including Common terns, Black skimmers, Oystercatchers, and Least terns, it’s a haven for not only birds but also bird photographers.
I’m spending a glorious four days in a photography workshop being offered by Denise Ippolito, a world wide renowed nature and wildlife photographer.
A true honor to be in the presence of such an accomplished photographer, wonderful teacher and kind person. It’s really early mornings, and late afternoons with naps in between, but the birds make it all worthwhile.
Today is just a sample of some of the beautiful scenes we’re enjoying. Stay tuned as I’ll be able to post more once I return home in a few days.
Aloha from the beach. Bella
