Project 365/305 – Equine Portraits

This past week has been to try something new. Having several friends at the barn that have wanted portrait images of them with their horses, the opportunity arose to develop a new skill.

Being a horseback rider myself, it helps me as a photographer in knowing when to capture the moment. Even the angle and position of where the photographer stands can make a difference in how successful an equine portrait can be.Β One thing I really enjoyed was watching and capturing the loving relationship between horse and rider.

It’s been really fun and I appreciated the chance to practice a new art. Perhaps this is a new door that has opened for me for next year.

Here’s good advice for practice: go into partnership with nature; she does more than half the work and asks none of the fee.

  1. Lovely photos! You could provide a wonderful service of portraits to riders πŸ™‚
The quote cracked me up a bit. Sometimes Mother Nature creates the job or mess in the first place! She’s crafty! (Beastie Boys reference!)
