Project 365/277 – In Need of an Ark

With the season’s change has been a three-day non-stop rain fest.  The remnants of a tropical storm, the Chesapeake Bay has been under a deluge that seems to never end. Even more rain is predicted for a few more days.

While we did desperately need the rain due to a recent drought, one tends to get a bit waterlogged. Thinking it was time to start an ark, a short visit to Kinder Farm Park helped to brighten the day.

The leaves are starting to change for the autumn season is upon us. And even though the rain seems never ending, the poultry pens were busy.

I haven’t decided if the black duck is either the director of the Duck Band, or is just photo bombing for the heck of it.

Even the roosters seemed to have one that likes to be a boss.

While the hens sat fat and sassy.

The barns on the farm stood strong and stoic against the rainy torment. Keeping everything inside warm and dry.

Earlier in the day I went out and replaced the bird feed in our feeders. The amount of rain caused all of the food to be full of mold in very quick order. Perfect conditions for lovely fungi.

In spite of the rain cancelling the Harvest Fall festival which was scheduled for today at the park, it was still an enjoyable visit.

My sorrow, when she’s here with me, thinks these dark days of autumn rain are beautiful as days can be; she loves the bare, the withered tree; she walks the sodden pasture lane.
