Project 365/204 – Sunrise at the Seawall

It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old man is snoring….

Woke up to rain, and it is still raining later on in the day. The island is crying as it doesn’t want me to leave. Nor do we want to go.

But Maryland is calling, and the ponies miss me. So most is packed, and I’m just waiting on the rain to subside so I can start loading the car. It’s been a beautiful respite in Maine this visit, and we managed to miss the overbearing summer heat wave at home.

This natural sea wall is part of Acadia National Park. Tumbled and tossed by the sea. With harsh waves and strong currents, the rocks are softened by the ocean’s fury and left on the beach. Filled by granite and other rounded rocks, the sea wall is a rock filled beach.

Yesterday morning I headed out at o’dark 30, meaning 4:00 a.m. to capture the sunrise over Southwest harbor and the natural sea wall. The stones beautifully capturing the warm sun rays, the surf pounding on the rock, and the sea birds floating on the waves. It was a peaceful and solitary time.

Wish all of you could travel to Acadia sometime and see the majestic beauty and experience it as I have. Have a wonderful weekend. Bella

  1. All is beautiful, wonderful photographs to top off a great couple of weeks. Once when it was raining during an Acadia National Park visit, we headed for downtown Bar Harbor and went to their theatre to watch a movie – pretty neat old time place – I’ll bet it hadn’t been updated since the Rockefellers were in town! Have a safe trip back home.
