2013 Project 365

Project 365/103 – The Flea Market

It’s been a really long time since I’ve been to any flea market. This Saturday morning was a perfect day to go out and explore one.

My first stop when I arrived with this melt-in-your-mouth, I can eat a hundred of these, miniature fried dough donuts. They were devoured in seconds. Energized by the sugar I began walking along the aisleways.

I had forgotten how filled with characters a flea market has. Such interesting and colorful people and a perfect place for people watching.

All sorts of cool things are available for purchase. It was hard to resist.

But the true star of the day, the one that stole the show was this charming little girl waiting in the produce truck for the day to pass.

It was a great adventure and a fun way to pass the time. If there is any kind of market near you, take advantage and enjoy it as much as you can.

  1. I love markets of all kinds, I have a stall at our local country markets.
But, we don’t seem to have markets like this flea market. We have them over east in a few places, not here.
Your photos really capture the nature of them 🙂

Oh, my MiL sometimes runs a donut stall at fairs. Life is good 🙂

    • Oh you must be so busy then. I saw the amount of things displayed and marveled at how much work it takes to put the items out, then repack them at the end of the day. What types of things do you sell?
This was a simple flea market. I’ve seen others with many antiques in them.
It’s great meeting you and look forward to sharing more with you in the future. Bella

    • Now that sounds really interesting Tricia – The Smithsonian thing. I’d like to hear more. The Gnatcatchers are all over this week. Saw another one today. They’re adorable, but talk about moving quickly!

  2. wonderful and colourful photographs! my flatmate is very into flea markets, she always brings home some beautiful treasures 🙂

  3. I love flea markets, both for buying and selling. When we first got together, my now husband and I bought loads of stuff from them, including our baby pram and high chair. Selling is exhilarating too, when you have people asking you about the stuff you’re selling and then buy it. It’s a great way to spend a morning and making some extra cash from stuff we don’t need any more.

    Beautiful pictures too!

    • That’s amazing Fatima that you sold things in a market. It’s tons of work. The people were really friendly and loved to chat. It’s a great idea, like you said, to make some money from extra belongings.

    • Oh a farmers market. How I love farmers markets! The one in Gainesville, FLA is fabulous and I used to go every weekend. They’re not as prominent around Annapolis, but do exist. I need to track it down then. Thanks Kate.

  4. It’s great going to the flea market with you – enjoyed the photographs of your star performers!! The dough donuts sounded delicious –
