Project 365 / Day 53 – Sky Magic

blkwtr130222-2917

“Like a red morn that ever yet betokened,

Wreck to the seaman,

tempest to the field,

Sorrow to the shepherds,

woe unto the birds,

Gusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to herds.”

William Shakespeare, Venus and Adonis

Canon 60D, 24-105mm L, 1/100 sec, f/4.0, ISO 1600, AWB. Lightroom adjustments (very minor): Straightening, noise reduction, clarity -21, vibrance +5. Colors are natural.

There’s to be a storm coming in this afternoon. As they say “Red Sky in the morning, sailor’s take warning.” This spectacular color only lasted about five minutes. Happy I had the alarm set for an early start today, otherwise I would have missed this glorious sunrise.

  1. Glad you were up early to grab this terrific sunrise Emily. I’m much more of a sunset person. 🙂
Although…if the cat keeps getting me up prematurly I may be out there with you next time.

  2. We watched from the corner as the heavens gathered their magenta and scarlet gauze throwing it into the winds – ah the Earth became coated in a brilliant display of color.

    Fantastic photography!
